Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast is the leading one-to-one mentoring organization in south Alabama and Mississippi. Each year, we serve more than 600 children and positively impact over 1,800 individuals across seven counties.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We match caring adult volunteers—our “Bigs”—with children ages 6 to 15—our “Littles”—who can benefit most from a consistent, positive role model. Every Big is carefully screened and trained to provide the guidance, encouragement, and accountability their Little needs to grow in confidence, make healthy choices, and reach their full potential.

This year’s Hooked on Fairhope Fishing Tournament was a huge success.
We’re so grateful to all of the Bigs and Littles who joined us for this month’s match activity, and everyone who registered to participate in all of the fun! It was wonderful seeing mentoring relationships grow while making new memories together on the water. From first-time anglers to seasoned fishermen, everyone played a part in making the day special.

As the first friendly face many prospective Bigs, Littles, and families will meet, Carmen will help guide them through the enrollment process and ensure they feel supported every step of the way. She’ll also play an important role in creating strong mentoring relationships by thoughtfully matching volunteers and children based on their interests, personalities, and goals.
Carmen’s work will help lay the foundation for meaningful, life-changing friendships that make a lasting impact on young people throughout our community.

Your role as a Big has the power to shape a child’s future, and this training helps you do it with intention. As part of our commitment to providing the best possible support for our Matches, we’re asking all Bigs to complete this training. Choose a time that works for you and take the next step in strengthening your impact.
You will learn take home action items that will positively influence your Little and those you come in contact with.
